Ad Grants Checker app

This section describes how Ad Grants Checker (accessible at ads.nonprofittop.com) collects, uses, and protects data obtained through Google APIs. Ad Grants Checker is a web-based tool that audits Google Ads accounts to surface optimization opportunities.

1. Data we access

When you sign in with your Google account, we request permission to access the following:

Google Account Profile (via OpenID Connect):

  • Your name, email address, and profile picture.

Google Ads Data (via the Google Ads API, read-only):

  • Campaign, ad group, keyword, and search term performance metrics (impressions, clicks, cost, conversions, quality scores).
  • Ad creative details (type, approval status, ad strength, URLs).
  • Landing page performance data.
  • Account structure and Manager Account (MCC) hierarchy information.
  • Conversion action configuration.

The app requests read-only access to your Google Ads data. It cannot create, modify, or delete campaigns, ads, or any other resources in your Google Ads account.

2. How we use your data

  • Authentication: Your Google profile (name, email, profile picture) is used to create and identify your account in the app.
  • Google Ads Auditing: Your Google Ads data is fetched in real time to generate audit reports, performance summaries, and optimization recommendations displayed to you in the app.
  • No Advertising or Profiling: We do not use your Google data for advertising, user profiling, or any purpose other than providing the app’s auditing functionality to you.

3. Data storage

  • Profile and authentication data (name, email, profile picture, OAuth tokens, session information) is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (neon.tech).
  • Google Ads performance data is never stored. Every time you view a report, the app fetches fresh data directly from the Google Ads API. Once the page is rendered, the data is discarded. There is no caching, no local storage, and no data warehouse for ads data.
  • OAuth refresh tokens are stored securely in the database, used exclusively to authenticate API requests on your behalf. They are never logged, never included in API responses, and never exposed to client-side code.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your Google user data with third parties for their own purposes. The following services process limited data as part of operating the app:

ServiceData SharedPurpose
Neon (neon.tech)User profile, OAuth tokensDatabase hosting
Sentry (sentry.io)Error context (no tokens, no ads data)Error monitoring
Arcjet (arcjet.com)IP addressesSecurity, rate limiting, bot detection

No Google Ads data is ever transmitted to any of these services.

5. Data retention and deletion

  • Your profile and authentication data are retained for as long as your account exists.
  • You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email address listed on this page. Upon deletion, all stored data — including OAuth tokens and session records — is permanently removed.
  • You can revoke the app’s access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions and removing Ad Grants Checker.

6. Security

  • All communication between your browser, our servers, and the Google Ads API is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
  • All Google Ads API calls are performed server-side; no ads data is processed in the browser.
  • Access to the application is protected by rate limiting and automated bot detection.
